Today we celebrated my little girl’s second birthday and as the video camera caught lasting memories of her older sister and cousins I couldn’t help but think about how fast life passes bye. I kept thinking to myself how hard it was to belief that she is already two as I remember her birth as if it was yesterday. As I did my best video work I made sure that I took footage of all the little ones playing because I know one day we’ll look back and admire how young the children were.
Sadly enough I do not have a lot of pictures or film from my younger days and I want my girls to have what I didn’t have. I don’t know how I would react being able to turn back the time 26 years and watching my 2nd birthday party. For my girls though they will be able to do this and for that I am excited for them.
One day they’ll be grown up and the birthday parties of Dora, Elmo, etc. will no longer be cool but I will forever have these memories chiseled into my heart forever. Hopefully they will too. I want to provide a life for my girls better than the one I had growing up with the hopes they will want the same for their children. My family is truly a gift from God and after having children I now understand and realize how short life truly is. Part of me wishes they never would grow up that the two year old would continue to throw her temper tantrum when she’s told she can’t have ice cream for breakfast, but part of me cannot wait to experience their life experiences. Who knows, maybe in twenty years I’ll be wishing they were in diapers. All I know is that I love them and my wife with all of my heart and I look forward to making memories with them.
I was flipping through the channels the other morning and came across a country music video by Rascal Flatts and the song is entitled, “Summer Nights”. Anyway the video caught my attention as the opening of the video showed the members of the band stating they wanted to involve their fans and quotes from the video include the following:
“Let our fans film themselves having a good time… maybe on a beach somewhere…having one good time…summer nights…”
…Audition fans maybe to play us….
At first I thought this was pretty interesting the fact being the band was going to show their fans and maybe this was a way to give back to their loyal listeners. I couldn’t help but think how great of an idea this was and then the video played on.
I was shocked as the video went on and on to people lip singing the song but I had a revelation that day that up until that point I did not know was true. Rascal Flatts country group have no overweight or obese fans. Their video proved it as it showed the size 0 girls running around in bikinis on the beach with their Hollister model counterparts shirtless or showing their well sculpted bodies.
The video was eye-opening as I had to let go of the stereotype I had previously had of country music fans. You know the redneck looking people, those people missing their teeth, guzzling beer and who could forget the beer gut? Does Larry the Cable Guy come to mind? Well it did until this day and now I know the fan base are only attractive people, now I’m not saying that I couldn’t be a fan of Rascal Flatts because of my looks, but you my friend might be in danger of not meeting the litmus test.
These beautiful people running around in the video was quite shocking especially with how obese Rascal Flatts’ lead singer, Gary LeVox, is. If you have not seen the man, well think of the statement, “he has more Chins than a Chinese phonebook.’ Anyway I guess it doesn’t matter unless you’re an ugly person, and I will forewarn you that you shouldn’t listen to the Rascal Flatts but should stick to Jeff Foxworthy and maybe a little Winona Judd. Yes, those two would be great, one is definitely unattractive while the other one is chunky.
Ahhh I can feel the change in the air as the nights are becoming a little bit cooler as the breeze begins to blow after the sun goes down. I love the fall season of the year and not because of the weather but because it means one thing, football! I have added a new widget tracking my alma mater and I am looking forward to the upcoming season. I was watching the St. Louis Rams ball game the other night and saw a familiar face with Mr. Kenneth Darby and I think it’s unfortunate that he is playing on a low-caliber team such as the Rams, but he is playing professional football.
Anyway, here is to the upcoming college football season, may each fan enjoy their favorite team’s season and remember, “Roll Tide, Roll!!”

Modern day technology has struck again and is the latest cause of death of one person and has another person critically injured in a car crash outside Delaware County Memorial Hospital in Drexel Hill, PA. According to police, the driver lost control of her vehicle, crossed over two lanes of traffic and ran over two pedestrians on the sidewalk that had just walked out of the hospital.
Apparently the driver, Rachel Jankins of Havertown, was having problems with her iPod, reached down, wasn’t paying attention and lost control of the vehicle. Killed was Nicole Gallo of Clifton Heights and the injured person is Christine Bochanski of Lansdowne.
Obviously heartfelt prayers and wishes go out to all of the families involved but one has to wonder what is going to come of all of this. Reality is we live in a “sue-happy” society and obviously Jankins will be facing one unlawful death suit but I have to question whether or not Apple and iPod will be sued. I know, I know, you’re probably thinking I’m crazy right now but we live in a world where individuals sue alma maters because of the inability to get employment. Hypothetically speaking if the iPod would have worked properly Jankins would not have been distracted and quite possibly the two pedestrians would have been unharmed.
I do not support any such lawsuits and become irate when I hear of people filing stupid suits but this is the world we live in. People want a buck without earning it. People look for the easy way out.
